24 Weeks

We had a milestone today. Leland was able to feel Catfish (that's what Leland and I call him) kick for the first time. We have determined that he doesn't like it when I lie on my back. He is usually pretty still when I am on my sides or sitting up. The pregnancy is going great. I feel fantastic and hope the heat is bearable through the summer. This could get interesting.....
We will be picking out a color for the walls of the nursery soon and painting. We are going with the Madras pattern from Pottery Barn Kids for our bedding. It is bright-colored patchwork plaid. I like the bright, cheery colors. Leland wanted to do camo, but that got the big VETO. I think we'll get him a camo diaper bag or something.
My next OB appointment is next week. No sono, just a regular appointment. It is disappointing when there is no sonogram; the sonograms are so much fun. I heard my doctor got a new sono machine and it cost around $400K. I am eagerly anticipating trying out the new technology. I posted a couple of pics of the baby bump and a great pic of me and my sis-in-law from the Patterson/Shields wedding in Christoval a couple of weeks ago. Congrats and best wishes to the new Mr. & Mrs. Dustin Patterson! Hope you all have a great week.

Attitude is Everything!

Aunt Judy forwarded me a great article a couple of months ago. It is about having a positive attitude. I am a firm believer that a great attitude equals a happy, healthy, productive life. Read this poem by Christian Larsen every morning to help your attitude be more positive.

Promise yourself:
* To be so strong that nothing can disturb your piece of mind.
* To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
* To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
* To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
* To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best.
* To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
* To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
* To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
* To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
* To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Isn't that nice?? Have a great day!

Blue or Pink?

It's a boy!! We found out this morning that we are having a little boy. We are both thrilled. It is such a miracle to see this life forming in my womb on the sonogram screen. I just don't know if I even feel worthy to bring a baby into this world, but that doesn't stop him from growing and thriving in me. It's a wonderful feeling. I don't even have words. Baby boy looks good and his heartbeat was 138 beats per minute. Leland has his little hunting buddy now and I am excited to have a little guy around in a couple of months.

Changes

We have some great news to announce. We're having a baby!! I am due October 16th. We are so excited. Things have been going great so far. I have felt great and I love my doctor. She has been so patient and has answered all my questions. I have been busy reading pregnancy books, having lunch and 'interviewing' my friends and shopping. It's been a really fun time. We'll keep you posted on the progress. We find out the gender on May 9th, if the baby (pumpkin, as my mom, Mimi, calls it) cooperates.

Foxy Lou Lacy

We lost Foxy this morning. She was 18. She had to be put down due to old age and her heart murmur. She was having seizures and the vet suggested that it was time. Kent, Nevie, Leland, and Haley rescued Foxy from the Miles area in 1993. She was captured by the 'unofficial' Miles dog catcher along with all her brothers and sisters. As rescue dogs often are, Foxy was skittish at first, but soon warmed up to Leland after he gave her an old sock to sniff to become familiar with his scent. After that, they were inseparable. Foxy was a great companion, hunting buddy, study buddy, walking companion, and escape artist. At one point, Nevie and Kent decided to let Foxy stay outside during the day while they were at work. She would stay in a fenced-off area in the side yard. This little 14-pound dogwould scale the fence and hop out!! She was nicknamed 'Houdini' for these feats. Foxy loved to hunt rabbits and ringtail, and chase and harass deer and cows. Foxy, in her younger years, would actually jump out the truck window if she saw a rabbit or deer at the ranch and chase it for hours. She would always find her way back home, even though several times we had our doubts. Foxy will be buried at the ranch this morning. It's where she would want to be. We're going to miss you Foxy. You are the best fur ball there ever was!

Junior League Western Dance 2011

Leland and I polished our boots for the Junior League Western Dance on February 5th. There was a great turn-out and we enjoyed the music, BBQ, beer, and of course, the fellowship with friends. Thank you so much to Nevie and Kent for driving us. You are awesome!

San Angelo Aggie Moms Club Style Show and Brunch

Johnna, Tara, and Laura

I am at it again. I modeled in the Aggie Mom's Style Show this month and had a blast. I was invited to sit at the Turner's table and the theme was Doctor Chocolate. He is a vet and they like chocolate, so they put the two together. Check out the scrubs chair covers and the chocolate fountain. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics of me in my outfit that I modeled, but it was a lot of fun and I will definitely try to go again next year. Nevie also hosted a table and her theme was snowmen. It turned about very well. I also won a one hour massage from Aunt Judy.....ahhhhhhh! Can't wait to go.
