LOVE

The Parker family lit the candle of love this morning at church as part of our Advent service at SVUMC.

Fast forward to this evening... Lane, Luke, Nana (Nevie), and I went to the Concho River Christmas Lights exhibit. We tried to pay our $5 entry fee and the car ahead had already paid for us. This is the first time that this has ever happened to me at any venue (restaurant, event, or otherwise).

On the way home I asked Lane if he knew any songs about Jesus. He said 'yes' and I asked him to sing it for us. He sang 'Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me'. Does it get any sweeter than that? Was I upset that he didn't know the words to a song I have been singing him since he was an infant? Of course not! I was so happy he got the message of the song.

I just wish at this time of Advent and ALL through the year, that we would keep in mind what is important. Jesus LOVES us! LOVE your neighbor! It's so simple!

This Christmas, I am going to focus on love and peace. Peace be with you!

Mary Wilson Russell McCall

My Mema passed away last year and I have been putting off writing about her because I just don't know if I can do her justice. I am not eloquent enough to put into words how I feel about her, but I will give it a shot.

Mema was not related to me by blood, but she never treated me as anything other than her own granddaughter. I always felt a special bond to her because we were both left-handed. I believe my cousin Lauren and I are the only people on the McCall side of my family who are left-handed, other than Mema. My paternal grandmother, Frances McCall, passed away when my father was at Baylor. My granddaddy married Mary on Christmas Day, 1970, a decade before I was born.

Mema was beautiful inside and out, had a quick wit, and a wonderful sense of humor. She is among the sharpest people I have ever met in my life. She loved to wear bright colors, but was never flashy. She always looked flawless, not a hair out of place. She loved to play bridge and cards and talk about the people who were special to her. She loved to travel. She took me to London for my high school graduation present. She was almost 80 years old when we went to London, but my mother, Aunt Nancy, and I could barely keep up with her!

She loved to give of her time to better Baylor and her community. She was honored with a Baylor Founders medal in 2008.

She lived in Waco most of her life, but moved to Dallas in 2003 to be near her sweet daughter, Nancy and her husband Dan, and her granddaughters Jan and Lisa and their children. I moved to Dallas in December 2002, so Mema and I shared many special lunches and dinners as we only lived 4 miles apart. I treasured every moment with her and tried to glean any stories and information about my granddaddy from her as I was only 14 when he passed away. I wanted to know him better through her and I also wanted to know her better.

Mary Wilson Russell McCall attended Baylor University for three years and transferred to North Texas State University where she received her B.A. and taught in the demonstration school. She later received an M.S. in guidance and counseling from Baylor.

I love you, Mema, and miss you terribly. I rejoice in the fact that I will see you again!

Love,
Laura

Lane's 4th Birthday Party

I am getting out of chronological order, but this post is pretty important. Your first-born doesn't turn 4 twice! Lane requested an 'army man' birthday party, so I did my best. He loved it. He is a very sweet boy who brings so much joy to our lives. Lane Scott Lacy,  I love you!

His stats are as follows:

33 lbs.
Wears Size 3T and 8.5 shoe
Has a fantastic vocabulary
Favorite color: yellow
Favorite day of the week: Tuesday (because he spends the night at Nana and Pop's house)
Favorite foods: mashed potatoes, cheese, corn dogs, fruit snacks, strawberries, blueberries, applesauce, green grapes, juice, milk, and Crystal Lite lemonade
Favorite activities - anything outside, Hide-N-Seek, any sports, anything having to do with tractors, backhoes, excavators and heavy equipment, and traveling

Mosaic Christmas PJ Party 2015

Lane and Luke had their Christmas party at school today. They got to wear their PJs, which I thought was a pretty cool idea. Luke loved the sugar cookies and Lane loved the strawberries and the green Christmas wreath Rice Krispy Treats.

Christmas 2015

We have been busy getting ready for Christmas 2015. We are super excited because this year we are staying HOME. This will be our first year to celebrate without traveling and our first Christmas in our new house. Mimi, Dado, Uncle Harvey, Aunt Meredith (MoMo), BeBe, PauPau, Aunt Haley, and Uncle Kevin are all coming out here to celebrate. I am really looking forward to it.

Aunt Haley, Pop, and Nana came over this week and helped Lane make a gingerbread train. He really enjoyed it.

Luke and Lane visited Santa last night at the mall. Luke didn't really seem to mind Santa at all. He was totally indifferent. Lane told him his full 'wish list'. It was cute!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey McCall

Harvey and Meredith were married on July 4, 2015 at The Cactus Hotel in San Angelo. Lane was thrilled to be asked to be one of the ring bearers (AKA Ring Security). Meredith is a sweetheart and we are so excited she is a part of our family now. Congratulations Meredith and Harvey!!

Luke is 1!

In May, we had a huge birthday party/housewarming party. Luke loves Mickey Mouse, so it was a Mickey themed-party. He loved it!

Our New House

We FINALLY moved into our new house in March 2015. It was quite a process. The builder estimated it would take 9 months to build and it took 11. We sold our home in town in July of 2014 to take advantage of the 'hot' summer market and moved to the Lacy Ranch on July 4, 2014. We commuted AND carpooled (4 Lacys in one vehicle) for NINE MONTHS. That's 90 miles each day of together time. That's one reason why my 2013 4Runner now has 78,000 miles on it. Oh man!

We want to thank Nevie and Kent for graciously allowing us to use the ranch. I will post a couple of pics of the new house. I hope to add more later.
