Redneck Olympics 2012

Our buds, Tiffany, Michael, Darr, and Jeanne came for the weekend to turkey hunt last month. When they drove up at the ranch house, they got out of the car and Tiffany and Michael were wearing shirts announcing that they were pregnant. I almost cried I was so happy! They are expecting twins later this year! We had a blast hanging out at the Lacy Ranch and Michael even got a gobbler. We ate too much and laughed a LOT! We started a tradition (well, I think it should be a tradition) with the Redneck Olympics. Tiffany and Michael brought a set of games for us to play. Bean bag toss, ladder ball, and well, I can't remember the third game right now, but it was a blast! We teamed up by couples and the competition got pretty heated. Michael and Tiffany won the first annual Redneck Olympics, but please note that Leland and I will be practicing for next year! We celebrated Michael's birthday with our version of a cookie cake, which turned out kind of charred, but it was edible!

7 Months

Dear Lane,
Happy 7 months!
You continue to get more and more fun! You are in such a cute stage. I just want to smother you with kisses. You had a great month. You started to hold your bottle by yourself, you took your first bath in the big bathub, you went for your first 'swim' in our inflatable pool, and you continued to charm us every day with that one-toothed smile. You tried fruit for the first time today...apples. You loved them. Nana could barely keep up with you...you were very demanding and leaned forward for every bite. We went to the ranch several times this month. You had a great time there. You love the front porch swing. Today is Mother's Day and I feel so blessed to be your mommy. There is no greater joy to me than to see your smile.

Know that you are loved,
Mommy

Happy Birthday, Uncle Harvey!

Happy birthday to my fantastic brother, Harvey! Hope you have a great b-day, bro'! Also, today, 4 years ago, my best friend proposed to me on the banks of the San Saba River. A good day all around! P.S. I said 'yes'!

6 month check-up

Lane went for his 6 month check-up today. He got three shots, but took it like a man! He weighed in at 17 pounds, 3 ounces and was 50th percentile in weight, height, and head circumference. He is growing like a weed and looking fatter and cuter by the day!

6 months

Dear Lane,
You are 6 months old today! What a great 6 months it has been. You got your first tooth this month, much to our surprise. You were really fussy for 2 days and we didn't know what was going on. We thought you were having tummy trouble. The girls at daycare noticed your tooth and let us know about it. We were completely clueless! Your tooth looks so cute. How could it not?
You had a very busy month. You took your first long road trip to Dallas to meet Mema, Uncle Patrick, Uncle Dan, Aunt Nancy, Aunt Beverly, and Uncle Johnny Mac. We also saw Aunt Iris there and Aunt Haley and you met some cousins. We stayed at Uncle Harvey's nice new condo. Then we went to Waco for Easter Sunday and you got your first Easter basket from Mimi and Dado. I guess you'll have your first Easter egg hunt next year. You started solid foods this week. We started with peas. I didn't think you liked them at first, but you have warmed up to them over the week. The girls at daycare say you eat about half a jar for lunch. You have become more like a little human over the past month. You are experimenting with your hands and noticing Lefty and other people a lot more. We are just so in love with you, little man. I can't believe how fast time is flying.
Know that you are loved,
Mommy

Wardrobe Changes

I have so much fun dressing up Lane in different outfits and he's a boy! I can't imagine what it would be like to have a little girl. Here are a few shots of him in some outfits that are very special. Uncle Harvey made the onesie that says 'Mama's Boy' and Nana and Pop gave him the navy blue jumper. And, of course, what post would be complete without a picture of a baby with cereal all over his face? That is our favorite bib from Mike and Deb. It says 'Catfish' on it. Lastly, I wanted a add a pic of Catfish with his pouty face. That lip all pouted out is the cutest thing in the world to me. :P I just had to share.

Holy bluebonnets, batman!

I am so proud and happy to live in Texas. The Lacy Ranch in Scheicher County is my favorite place in the world, especially in the spring when the bluebonnets are at their best. When I die, please cremate me, put me in a coffee can, and spead my ashes at this beautiful place. Lane wouldn't look at the camera, but we tried to get a few decent shots. God bless Texas!!
